MINISTER REMANDED SPEND EASTER AT LUZIRA OVER EMBATTLED KJONG IRON SHEETS.

Minister for Karamoja Affairs Dr. Mary Goretti Kitutu has been charged and remanded on allegations relating to corruption and diversion of Karamoja iron sheets.
The Minister donned in Yellow was veiled to disguise herself and dodge media but inside the dock she was asked to strip off the disguising attire save for the mask that she retained on her face.

The accused are facing charges of Loss of Public Property and Conspiracy to Defraud the government .
The duo denied involvement in the alleged diversion of iron sheets intended for Karamoja.
They have been charged with three counts related to corruption, conspiracy to defraud and loss of government property in relation to the diverted Karamoja iron sheets,
Minister through her lawyers led by Michael Wamasebu and Jude Byamukama asked court to release her on bail citing constitutional right, advanced age and the fact that she’s expected for for medical review on April, 15 at the hospital.
Kitutu’s lawyers alluded to the fact that since investigations into the matter are still ongoing and that no one is sure of when the trial will kick off, its better she’s granted bail..
Four sureties including Kitutu’s husband, George Michael Kitutu, former Minister and Now Amb. Simon Mulongo, Mbale City North MP Seth Wambede and Dr.Joel Wandawa, a surgeon at Kiruddu hospital.
State Pprosecutors led by Josephine Namatovu and Jonathan Muwaganya Objected to the bail application adding that she’s likely to interfere with witnesses, some of whom are her relatives.
The trial Magistrate adjourned the matter to Wednesday, April, 12 when shes expected to pronounce herself on the bail application.
